MINNIE'S APPLE DUMPLINGS 
SYRUP:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 heaping tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. butter
Nutmeg (optional)
5 c. water
10 cooking apples

DOUGH:

2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
4 tbsp. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk

Mix sugar, flour, butter and nutmeg and 1 cup cold water. Add 4 cups hot water and boil. Mix dough, roll out as for pie crusts only thicker and cut into 10 squares. Slice each apple, place on square and make a ball. Put into baking dish and cover with syrup. Bake 45 minutes in 350 to 375 degree oven. Spoon syrup over dumplings while cooking.
