PEANUT BUTTER CRISS-CROSSES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. peanut butter
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in peanut butter. Sift dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Press with back of floured fork to make criss- crosses. Bake in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes. Makes 5 dozen. For richer cookies, use 2 cups of flour.
