2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
1 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening softened
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together first 4 ingredients, then add next 3. Mix on high for 2 minutes.

Add:

Mix on high speed for 1 minute. Pour into greased and floured pan. Bake in moderate oven (350) 30 to 35 minutes. Yields one small cake (9x13).
