BEST EVER OATMEAL COOKIES 
2 sticks butter
1 c. shortening
1 c. peanut butter
2 c. white sugar
2 c. brown sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
6 c. oatmeal
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate, peanut butterscotch chips
1 c. chopped nuts or peanuts

Cream butter, shortening and peanut butter; add sugar and beat until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and beat until creamy. Stir salt and baking soda into flour and add to creamed mixture. Stir in oatmeal, chips and nuts. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes until just turning brown. Cool on wire racks before storing in airtight container. Makes 6-7 dozen.
