SWEDISH APPLE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs, beaten
3 c. apples, chopped fine
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
Dash of salt
1/2 c. nuts

Cream together sugar, shortening, add eggs and apples. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, adding nuts last. Put in a 9 x 13 inch greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. While baking, melt 2 tablespoons butter, 3 tablespoons milk and 1 1/2 cups brown sugar together. Spread the cake with this mixture. Return the cake to the oven and bake for 25 minutes more at 350 degrees.
