1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
Pinch of salt

Cream together sugar, butter, and egg. Sift together dry ingredients, except soda. Add soda to sour milk. Combine all ingredients and beat thoroughly. Bake at 350 degrees. Makes 1 layer.
