BUTTERMILK BROWNIES 
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. water
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift and stir first three ingredients together. Melt butter, cocoa and water. Bring to rapid boil and pour over sifted ingredients. Mix well, add eggs, buttermilk, soda and vanilla. Mix and pour into greased 11 x 15 inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees until done, (about 10 minutes). Have frosting ready.

FROSTING FOR BUTTERMILK BROWNIES:

1/2 stick butter
3 tbsp. milk
1 tbsp. cocoa

Mix butter, milk and cocoa; bring to a boil. Remove from heat, add: 1 tsp. vanilla

Beat until smooth. May add 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired. Spread on brownies while still very warm. These are great to freeze too.
