DANISH APPLE BAR
DOUGH:

2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 egg
Milk

1 qt. applesauce or 6 lg. apples, finely chopped
Raisins (optional)
1 c. crushed cornflakes

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix flour, shortening and salt. Beat egg yolk and enough milk to make 2/3 cup. Add to flour mixture and mix well. Divide dough in half and roll out. Roll out thin enough to cover greased cookie pan. Cover dough in cookie pan with crushed cornflakes. Mix apples or applesauce with brown sugar and cinnamon to taste. Pour over cornflakes.

Roll out top half of dough and place on top of apple mixture. Pinch edges (like for fruit pie). Beat egg white and spread over top of dough. Bake until brown (about 45 minutes) or until edges are pulled away from pan.

TOPPING:

Mix 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and milk enough to make paste. Spread over top while still hot.
