SALEM CREME DE MENTHE SQUARES 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
16 oz. can chocolate syrup

Combine first 3 ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add flour, vanilla and syrup. Beat well. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool in pan. Combine ingredients for second layer (below).

SECOND LAYER
1/2 c. butter
2 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. Creme de Menthe

Beat well, spread over cooled cake layer. Refrigerate until firm. Make third layer (below).

THIRD LAYER
6 oz. pkg. chocolate bits
6 tbsp. butter

Melt ingredients together and pour over second layer. Refrigerate to cool. At room temperature, cut into 1 inch squares. Sprinkle with 1 cup nuts. Makes 60 bars.
