1 (18.25 oz.) box deluxe chocolate cake mix 1/2 c. or 1 stick butter, melted 2/3 c. evaporated milk 1 (14 oz.) bag light caramels 1 (6 oz.) bag chocolate chips 1 c. chopped nuts Place cake mix, melted butter and 1/3 cup milk in bowl. Mix with beater or by hand very well. Place half the chocolate mixture in 13 x 9 inch pan and press well to cover bottom of pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Remove and cool. Place unwrapped caramels in heavy pan with 1/3 cup evaporated milk and stir over medium heat until melted and smooth. Pour over cooked chocolate mixture. Spread evenly. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Take pieces of remaining dough and press into flat pieces with your hands to cover entire surface of pan over chips and nuts. Bake again in 350 degree oven for 15 to 18 minutes. Cool and cut. |
