HAM CHOWDER | |
2 c. diced potatoes 1/2 c. sliced carrots, thin 1/2 c. sliced celery, thin 1/4 c. diced onion 1 tsp. salt 2 c. water 1/4 c. butter, melted 1/4 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 2 c. milk 2 c. cooked, diced ham 2 c. grated cheddar cheese Cook potatoes, carrots, celery, onions and 1 teaspoon salt in 2 cups water for 10 minutes. Do not discard water. Make white sauce combining melted butter, flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, pepper and milk. Cook on low heat until it thickens. Add to cooked vegetables. Add the diced ham and grated cheese. Do not cook. Keep heat low to prevent scorching. |
