GREEN BEAN AND MUSHROOM
CASSEROLE
 
2 (4 oz.) cans sliced mushrooms, drained
1 med. onion, chopped
6 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. flour
2 c. warm milk
1/2 c. light cream
1/2 lb. cheddar cheese, shredded
Salt to taste
3 (16 oz.) cans French style beans, drained
1 (8 oz.) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
Butter
Bread crumbs

Saute mushrooms and onion in butter; add flour, stir and cook until smooth. Combine milk, cream, cheese in double boiler and heat until cheese melts. Combine this with everything else but bread crumbs and butter, pour into casserole dish. Top with bits of butter and the bread crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees until browned, about 25 to 30 minutes. Serves 10 to 12.
