HUNTER'S STEW 
4 slices bacon
1 lb. beef for stew
2 onions
2 c. chopped apple
1 can beef broth
2 c. water
2 c. diced carrots
1 lb. Polish sausage in 1 1/2-inch pieces
4 c. shredded cabbage

Cook bacon until crisp. Remove. Brown beef in drippings. Add onion and apple. Cook 5 minutes. Add broth and water; cover. Simmer 1 hour 20 minutes. Add carrots and sausage. Simmer 30 more minutes. Add cabbage and bacon, broken into pieces. Simmer 10 minutes or until cabbage is done.
