GINGERED BEEF 
4 to 5 lbs. lean round steak
2 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. ground turmeric
2 tbsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 tbsp. oil
2 onions, sliced thinly
1 garlic clove, minced
1 can peeled and chopped tomatoes
1 c. beef stock
1/3 tsp. ground thyme

Wipe meat with a damp cloth. Combine ginger, flour, turmeric, salt and pepper; dredge the meat in it. Brown the meat on all sides in the oil. Add the onions, garlic, tomatoes, stock and thyme. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer gently for about two hours or until done.
