1 lb. butter 5 c. flour Work as for pie crust. Add: 3 tbsp. sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. sour cream FILLING: 1 lb. chopped dates (2-8 oz. boxes or 2 c.) 1 c. sugar 1 c. water 2 c. nuts FILLING: Cook until thick and cool. Mix above together. Make small balls. Put on cookie sheet and refrigerate overnight. Roll out each ball in powdered sugar. Place 1/2 teaspoon filling in center. Fold over as for crescent, seal with a fork, prick on top 2 or 3 times. Place on well-greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until done. Remove quickly from cookie sheet with spatula or they will stick. When you take balls out of refrigerator, let stay out for 15 minutes or longer before you start to roll out. |
