DATE NUT COOKIES 
1/4 c. butter, room temperature
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. sour cream
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. chopped dates

Sift all dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat. Add vanilla and sour cream. At low speed, blend in dry ingredients, then add dates and nuts. Drop by teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 7-8 minutes. Cool.

ICING:

1/4 c. butter
1 c. confectioners' sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Few drops hot water

Put butter in saucepan over low heat and let it get golden brown. Watch that it does not burn. Add the confectioners' sugar and vanilla. Blend. Add a few drops of hot water, to spreading consistency. Place a small amount on top of each cookie.
