YUMMY PECAN BITES 
1 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup finely chopped pecans

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in pecans.

Roll dough into 1 inch balls, then roll in topping. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets; flatten slightly.

Bake at 400°F for 10-12 minutes or until surface cracks. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Yield: 5 dozen bites.

TOPPING:

3 tablespoons sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Combine topping ingredients in a small bowl.
