SOFT CHOCOLATE DROP COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2 squares melted chocolate
1/4 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. nuts, if desired

Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly; add chocolate, eggs and vanilla, mixing well. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk, ending with dry ingredients. Add nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a moderate 350 degree oven for 12-15 minutes. Cool, then frost. Let this batter set a few minutes before you start baking the cookies. They are better if you make small cookies.
