OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening, softened
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. granulated sugar or (1/4 c. honey)
1 egg
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 c. oats, uncooked

Beat shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla together until creamy. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Add to creamed mixture. Blend well. Stir in oats and chocolate chips. Bake in a 350 degree oven 12 to 15 minutes. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
