CHERRY COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, separated
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. grated orange rind
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 c. flour
Dash salt
1 c. chopped walnuts
A few candied cherries

Cream butter and sugar, add egg yolk, vanilla, orange rind and lemon juice; mix well. Stir in flour and salt, mix well; chill. Mold into 1/2 inch balls, place on greased cookie sheets. Beat egg white with a little water. Dip cookies in egg white and roll in chopped walnuts. Place on baking sheet and top with a candied cherry half. Bake in a 350 degree oven 10-12 minutes.
