SNICKERDOODLE COOKIES 
1 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix together thoroughly the 1 cup soft shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 2 eggs. Sift together and stir into the sugar mixture: 2 3/4 cup sifted flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.

Roll into balls the size of walnuts and roll in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in a moderate oven until lightly browned but still soft. Makes about 5 dozen.
