DUMPLINGS 
1 qt. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
7 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. ice water

Sift flour in large mixing bowl. In center of flour, add sugar, salt, soda, and shortening. Mix together with ice water. Mix well. Must be thick enough to roll, adding more flour if needed. Place in refrigerator overnight. Cut and add to hot broth. Cook covered until done.
