OATMEAL CAKE 
2 cups oatmeal
2 cups boiling water
2 cups brown sugar
4 eggs, beaten
1 cup shortening
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped nuts

Pour boiling water over oatmeal. Mix; let stand 20 minutes.

Mix brown sugar, eggs and shortening in order given. Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Mix together. Add raisins and nuts.

Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
