JAM CAKE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
3 whole eggs
9 tbsp. buttermilk
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 c. flour
Pinch salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. jam
1/2 c. pear preserves
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix in order given. Bake in two 2 (9 inch) layer pans. Bake at 375 degree oven for 30 minutes.

CARAMEL ICING:

2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. white sugar
2 tbsp. white Karo syrup
2 tbsp. + 2 tbsp. pure cream

Bring to soft ball stage. Put in 1/2 cup butter (pinch salt).
