BOB ROY COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. each cinnamon and cloves
1/4 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1/2 c. rolled oats
1/2 c. sunflower seeds
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. crushed pineapple
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour

Combine first 7 ingredients with the sugar. Cream thoroughly, add eggs and beat well. Add rolled oats, nuts, sunflower seeds, dates, raisins, pineapple and half the flour, mix well. Add milk, then the remaining flour. Mix with soda. (I mix soda with milk.) Mix well, drop by spoon on greased cookie sheet and bake at 325 degree oven for 10 minutes. I press cookie dough down because it bakes more even.
