DATE BARS 
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. melted butter
2 well beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. hot water
1 lb. dates, cut fine
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Mix flour, salt and baking powder and spread dough out thinly in a greased 11 x 7 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Let stand in pan until completely cool. Cut in bars, 6 x 4 inch strips. Roll in powdered sugar. Keep in plastic bag or tight container as they dry out easily.
