RHUBARB CAKE | |
3 c. sifted flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. each cloves, allspice and nutmeg 1 c. shortening 1 3/4 c. brown sugar 4 eggs 1 c. rhubarb sauce 3/4 c. milk 1/2 c. each raisins and walnuts Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices, cream shortening and sugar until light. Add eggs, beat thoroughly, stir in rhubarb sauce, add flour-mixture alternately with milk, mixing well after each addition. Fold in raisins and nuts. Bake in 2 greased inch pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Rhubarb sauce is made by cooking rhubarb slowly until tender; add sugar to slightly sweeten. |
