OATMEAL ICEBOX COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. nuts

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla. Then add remaining ingredients. Shape into 2 rolls and chill. Slice 1/4 inch thick and bake for 10-12 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees.
