CRACKLE TOP GINGER COOKIES 
1 c. sugar (1/2 c. light brown and 1/2 c. granulated)
1 c. butter (2 sticks)
1 egg
1 c. light molasses
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped walnuts

Thoroughly cream butter and sugar together. Add egg and mix well. Stir in molasses. Sift together dry ingredients and combine with molasses mixture. Add raisins and nuts. Chill thoroughly - overnight if possible. Roll dough into walnut sized balls and roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on greased or Teflon coated cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 14 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
