DATE FILLED COOKIES 
DOUGH:

3/4 c. butter
2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. quick cooking oatmeal
1 c. brown sugar
5 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder

FILLING:

1 c. sugar
8 oz. pkg. dates
1 c. water
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix first three filling ingredients and cook until thick. Cool and add vanilla. Blend all crust ingredients with a fork. Roll out thin and cut with round cookie cutter. Place 1 teaspoon filling on dough and cover with second dough circle. Press edges together. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen.
