1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp. cocoa
dash of salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup hot water
4 cups milk
3/4 tsp. vanilla

Combine dry ingredients in saucepan. Blend in water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly; boil and stir 2 minutes. Add milk; stir and heat. Do not boil. Remove from heat. Add vanilla; beat with rotary beaters until foamy.
