OKRA AND CORN CHOWDER 
3 ears fresh corn
1 lb. okra, cut into chunks
4 oz. bacon, sliced
2 potatoes, diced
2 tomatoes, peeled and chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. chili powder
7 c. chicken stock
3 tbsp. chopped cilantro
Salt and pepper to taste

Fry the bacon in a large pot and add the onion, garlic, okra and corn. Add potatoes, tomatoes and chicken stock and bring to a boil. Skim off any excess fat and foam. Let simmer for 15 minutes and add cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle the chopped cilantro on it and serve.
