OATMEAL DATE COOKIES 
1 c. shortening (Crisco)
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. flour
1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates, cut fine
1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. oatmeal, uncooked
1 c. salted peanuts or walnuts, chopped

Cream shortening and sugars; add milk to beaten eggs; mix well and add to creamed mixture. Add rest of ingredients, flour, cinnamon, baking soda, dates and oatmeal. Mix until well blended. Add salted peanuts or walnuts, fold in. Drop by teaspoonful onto non stick cookie sheets or lightly grease others. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 6 dozen cookies.
