CARAMEL DUMPLINGS 
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. butter
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

CARAMEL SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
3 c. boiling water
1/8 tsp. salt
2 tsp. butter

Sift together flour and baking powder. Cream together sugar and butter; add sifted ingredients alternately with milk to which vanilla has been added. Stir just until mixed.

Place 1/2 cup of sugar in heavy dry skillet and heat until golden brown (caramelized). Slowly add 3 cups boiling water, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, salt and butter. Cook mixture 10 minutes.

Drop batter by spoonfuls into caramel syrup. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven and place in serving bowl.
