APPLE BROWNIES 
2/3 c. shortening (half butter)
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 full c. raw chopped apples
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cream together shortening, eggs, brown sugar and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to shortening mixture and mix well. Add chopped raw apples and nuts, combining thoroughly. Bake in greased 9x13 pan, 350 degree oven, 30 to 35 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
