DAY BEFORE PAYDAY SOUP 
1 lb. stewing beef
1 sm. head of cabbage
15 green onions or 1 med. onion, diced
7 lg. potatoes, diced
Water as needed
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
6 to 8 lg. carrots, diced
1 tbsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper

In large kettle combine one gallon water, beef, cabbage, onions, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Cook 4 hours on medium high or until meat is tender. Then add carrots. Cook 40 to 45 minutes. Add potatoes. Cook until carrots and potatoes are tender enough to easily pierce with fork.
