1 c. (2 sticks) butter 2/3 c. sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1 c. oats Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg; beat until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Gradually add flour to creamed mixture; blend well. Stir in oats. Chill dough. Roll out to 1/8-inch thickness on board or canvas which has been lightly coated with confectioners' sugar. Cut into desired shapes with floured cookie cutters. Place on buttered cookie sheets. Bake in preheated moderate oven (350°F) 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet immediately with metal spatula; cool on wire racks. Drizzle with icing and decorate with red and green candied cherries. |
