PICKLE RELISH 
16 cucumbers (med. size), don't peel
6 onions (med. size)
2 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. vinegar
2 tsp. celery seed
2 tsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. alum

Chop cucumbers and onions. Add 1/2 cup salt; mix well and let stand for 30 minutes, then drain well in colander. Put remaining ingredients in large pot and bring to boiling stage. Add cucumbers and onions; bring to a boil. Place in jars and seal. Process 15 minutes in boiling water bath.
