GRANDMA'S CHESS SQUARES 
1 c. butter
2 c. self-rising flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt
1/2 c. pecans
2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 lb. box brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
4 eggs

Heat butter and brown sugar on low heat. Remove when sugar dissolves. Add remaining ingredients EXCEPT confectioners' sugar. Pour mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Cut into squares and roll in confectioners' sugar while still hot. Yields: 30-35 squares.
