APPLE CAKE & SAUCE 
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
3 lg. tart apples
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Sift flour; measure then sift again with soda and spices. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Mix in chopped and peeled apples along with flour mixture and nuts. Bake in greased 8 or 9 inch pan at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

SAUCE:

1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. evaporated milk
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar

Mix and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve hot over warm cake.
