HOT SPICED FRUIT SALAD | |
1 can (1 lb.) each peach halves, pineapple chunks, pitted light serrt cherries, pear halves, apricot halves 2 tart apples 3 tbsp. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. each ground nutmeg and cinnamon 1/4 tsp. ground cloves 1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1/4 c. butter 3 bananas 2 c. seedless grapes (fresh or canned) Sour cream, whipped cream or unflavored yogurt (optional) Drain and combine syrup from peaches, pineapple, cherries, pears and apricots. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of combined fruit syrup. Core and dice apples, mix with lemon juice. Turn all drained fruits into a 2 1/2 quart baking dish. Stir together reserved fruit syrup, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and brown sugar. Pour over fruit and dot with butter. Cover and bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. Peel bananas and cut into chunks. Lightly stir grapes and bananas into baked fruit. Bake 5 minutes more. Serve hot. Serves 12. Good with ham or turkey. |
