RED VELVET ICING FOR CAKE 
1 c. milk
4 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

In a saucepan add a little milk to the flour, stirring until all lumps are gone. Add remaining milk, cook; stirring constantly until thick. Cool. Chill in refrigerator until very cool.

Add remaining ingredients and beat well. Spread between layers and on top and sides. Make sure that shortening used in icing is not soft. It's best to use is straight from refrigerator.
