BUTTER CREAM ICING 
1 c. white shortening
5 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. powdered milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. egg whites (4)
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix well. Prepare 4 to 5 hours before actual serving. Cut back on shortening in summer. Add 2 tbsp. cornstarch for stiffer for flowers made ahead for drying. Add color. Keeps up to 3 months in refrigerator.
