NEVER FAIL PIE CRUST | |
4 c. flour, lightly spooned (no instant or self rising) 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt Mix with fork. Add 1 3/4 c. shortening (Crisco) not refrigerated. Do not use oil, lard, butter. In a small bowl, mix: 1/2 c. water 1 tbsp. white or cider vinegar 1 lg. egg Add to flour and mix with fork. Divide in 5 portions. Wrap each in wax paper and foil. Chill 1/2 hour before using. Balance can be frozen and used as needed. This pie crust will always be flaky no matter how much you handle it. Scraps can be re-rolled and will never be tough. |
