BROWN HAMBURGER STEW 
1 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. fat
1 1/2 c. water
3 carrots, sliced
3 potatoes, diced
2 onions, sliced
1 turnip, diced
2 c. tomato juice

Mix hamburger meat with flour, salt and pepper. Brown in fat, stirring as needed. Drain off fat. Add water and carrots; cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

Add other vegetables and simmer until crisp tender, about 10 minutes. Add tomato juice, heat through and serve. Makes 6 servings or 1 1/2 cups each.
