OVEN BEEF STEW 
2 lbs. beef cubes, 1 to 2 inch cubes
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 lg. onion, cut in 1/8 inch pieces
4 carrots, pared and cut in 4 inch strips
4 celery ribs, cut in 1 inch pieces
1 tsp. leaf basil
1/3 c. quick cooking tapioca
1 c. or 4 oz. sliced mushrooms (optional)
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 cans tomato soup
1 can beef broth or water

Put everything in Dutch oven; mix together. Cover and bake at 300 degree for 2 1/2 hours. Add 2 medium potatoes; cut in 1/4 inch slices. Cook 1 hour longer. Serves 8.
