MASHED HUNGARIAN BEANS (TORTT
PASUY)
 
2 c. white beans, soaked 1 hour
Ham bone or ham hock
1 c. sliced onions
1 tsp. bacon grease
3-4 c. water
1 tsp. salt

Cook beans with ham and salt until well done. Drain and mash. Spread mashed beans on a plate and after cooking onions in bacon grease. Spread the onions over the top of the mashed beans. This goes very well with a meat dish.
