WHOLE WHEAT CAKE 
2 c. raisins
5 c. water
2 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. shortening
5 c. whole wheat flour
3 eggs
1 c. nuts

Boil raisins in water for 30 minutes. Cool. Mix brown sugar, salt, soda, cloves, cinnamon, shortening, and flour as for pie crust. Add beaten eggs, raisins and 3 cups raisin liquid. If not enough, add water. Add 1 cup nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
