CAN'T FAIL WHOLE WHEAT ROLLS | |
2 pkg. dry yeast 2 c. lukewarm water 1/2 c. melted shortening 1/2 c. sugar 3 tsp. salt 3 eggs 3 c. whole wheat flour 3 1/2 c. white flour or enough to make dough easy to handle Soften yeast in water. Add sugar, salt and 2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Add shortening and eggs, beating well. Add remaining whole wheat flour and enough white flour to form dough. Knead and place in a greased bowl. Turn, leaving greased side up. Cover and set in warm place to rise until more than doubled (2 hours or more). Shape into rolls and place in well greased pan or muffin pans. Cover and leave until light, about 20-30 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees until browned 20-25 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 to 3 dozen good sized rolls. |
