RED CABBAGE 
1 head red cabbage
1 lg. onion
2 tbsp. butter or bacon drippings
2 apples, sliced (opt.)
1 c. water
1/2 to 3/4 c. red wine vinegar
2 tbsp. sugar
Salt & pepper to taste
Bay leaf

Cook until tender, you may thicken with 1 tablespoon flour.
